This restaurant has grown because of the consistent efforts of the Quick Service Restaurant to appeal to customers’ childhood memories and food. There is a lot of competition for QSR, India’s most popular restaurant format. Rolls Mania’s story is a great example of how to inspire fellow restaurateurs in such a competitive market.

Rolls Mania was founded by Puneet Kansal (an ordinary businessman) to provide delicious food at a reasonable price. Puneet met Gagan and Sukhpreet and became his partners in Rolls Mania. The team at Rolls Mania created a franchise model in 2015 and had over 100 outlets within a matter of months.

Let’s look at the business dynamics and see how they built an empire in just a few short years.

Restaurant Expansion: Lessons For A Restaurateur

Kansas was looking for something different to offer customers, but he also wanted to ensure that customers could eat healthy food on the move. Kansal’s idea of making rolls was to wrap a “roti” with a “sabzi” and run off to school. Offering healthy, fast food is ideal because everyone around you is busy. Rolls were born.

“My idea was to start small and build a wonderful thing from it. Food is the only area where you can start from a small budget. You can start with $10,000, 20,000 or even a million dollars. Kansal says that Rolls was the only food product that could be made internationally when we were looking for something unique.

What We Believe In

Rolls Mania’s three core principles for expanding restaurants are the 3Qs. They are Quality, Quantity and Quick Service. It has not been easy to teach the 3Qs in the restaurant culture.

“We don’t believe that what we’re selling is fast food. It’s completely nutritious fulfilling food made more quickly. We don’t want our brand to be seen as just another junk food brand. He says that you can consume it quicker, without having to wash your hands and without any compromises in the nutritional value.”

He believes that roti rolls are something we all had as children and that we have forgotten about them as adults. Puneet saw a gap in the market and decided to bring back comfort food roti rolls with Rolls Mania.

Way Ahead For Restaurant Expansion

Rolls Mania’s future is the brighter international exposure and consistent customer service that makes customers want to return.

Kansal explains that the R&D department works full-time to create healthier choices for health-conscious customers.

He didn’t want to be a competitor with the many pizza shops that were already available. He instead created something that was loved and desired by people all over the world, not only in India but also abroad. The brand had little to no competition, bringing back the nostalgic feeling that most people long for.
